Minutes of the Technical Committee Meeting of June 8, 1999

Meeting was called to order by Chairman Allan Avnet, AB6UB, at 7:03 p.m.

First order of business was to appoint a new Secretary of the Technical Committee, to replace Sybil Allbright, W6GIC, who was forced to resign her position for health reasons.

Chairman Allan Avnet, AB6UB, appointed Karl Pagel, N6BVU, to the position of Secretary of the Tech Committee, with unanimous approval from the rest of the Committee.

The minutes from the April 13, 1999 meeting were read and approved as corrected. Motion by Jensen Woods, AH6MX, Second by John Cordle, KF6XY; 3 for, 0 against, 0 abstaining.

Agenda Item 1: Corona-Norco ARC, W6PWT on 147.66/.06 has applied for a new assignment to co-channel their present system. The new location is on the Norco Hills. If the new location proves to be acceptable to the club, their present location will be relinquished.
After discussion, a Motion for a one year Test was made by Joe Provenza, W6UPN, Seconded by Jensen Woods, AH6MX. Vote was 4-0. Letters will be sent to co-channel and adjacent channel users.

Agenda Item 2: Anaheim Amateur Radio Association on 146.19/.79 requested to change their PL tone from 107.2 Hz (1B) to 114.8 (2A) at their Fullerton location. Motion to accept made by Joe Provenza, W6UPN, Second by John Cordle, KF6XY. Vote 4-0.

Agenda Item 3: Interference on 145.120, HAARC vs KC6PXL. The HAARC group is still using the frequency pair 144.62/145.12 despite being given a new test on 147.345/.945 MHz. After much discussion, item was tabled until next meeting. The HAARC group was asked to turn off their 145.12 repeater until after the next meeting. A letter will be sent to the trustees of both repeaters, asking them to attend the July TASMA Technical Committee meeting in person.

Agenda Item 4: A letter from KF6EOJ complaining of interference to 146.82 by adjacent systems, was given to Joe Provenza, W6UPN, to investigate.

Agenda Item 5: A letter from Frank Westphal, KF6E, repeater tech of the 146.625/.025 W6ELZ box in Pomona was read. He stated the repeater was down for repairs, and to add a PL tone to the receiver. A letter will be written to him, asking for a time frame for the repairs.

Agenda Item 6: Jeff Richardson, KD6NXD, President of the Citrus Belt ARC, presented documents pertaining to the new trustee of the repeater on 146.25/.85 on Crestline. He will download the necessary forms from the TASMA web page and submit an updated RFC for our records. They will add PL 146.2 Hz (4B) to their receiver as soon as possible.

Other Items:

  1. A notarized letter from Ted Henry, W6YEY, authorizing ownership of the repeater on 146.07/.67 on his property by the SSARO group was presented.
  2. A list of uncoordinated systems and systems in the test mode was presented to the Committee by Karl Pagel, N6BVU, showing which systems had completed their one year tests. The following systems, having completed their one year tests, will be reviewed by the Committee at the July meeting. They are:
