Minutes of the Technical Committee Meeting of March 9, 1999
The meeting was called to order by Allan Avnet, AB6UB, Technical Committee Chairman, at 7:06 P.M. at Carrow's Restaurant on Magnolia just south of I-405.
The first order of business was from a guest, Bruce Scholes, WA6BYY, and his wife regarding the Crestline repeater on 146.250/146.850. Mr. Scholes stated that both co-owners of the repeater died within a month or two of each other. Mr., Scholes has been designated to take over the repeater and will get notarized permission from the wives of the former co-owners to do so. Mr. Scholes was given an RFC to fill out, as well.
2. Peter Kahn, K6PSK, sent in an RFC for AB6C, 145.715/147.115, a repeater in the Hollywood Hills. However there were several items missing. The Secretary was directed to send one of the RFC's back to Mr. Kahn asking for a map, a system block diagram, the ERP of the repeater, the HAAT chart, the coordinates of the repeater, and to tell him that if the repeater is moved to Lukens, he should resubmit a new RFC for a one year test that would limit the power to 25 watts to the antenna. If he moves to Lukens, after three months, he will lose the former site, also.
3. Regarding the 146.625/146.025 repeater, W6ELZ, in Pomona, the trustee, Frank Westphal, sent a message to Mark West (La Crescenta) saying that Frank was taking the repeater off the air in order to install a PL. We received a letter from Mark West confirming that the repeater is off the air. The Secretary was directed to write to Frank Westphal to ask about his intentions, with a response time of 60 days.
4. Jose A. Batrez, KD6AFA, brought in a fax from Ted Henry giving him permission to take over the 146.070/146.670 repeater, but it was not notarized. He was asked to provide a notarized letter. If this is forthcoming, the RFC could be acted on at the next meeting.
5. Ted Lavitoria, KN6NA was offered a new frequency (146.955/146.355), but he has not yet sent the RFC back.
6. Received RFC from George Kreider III for 147.750/147.150 without a coverage map. Secretary will send instructions for him to complete the RFC.
7. Received an update from Tom Fakehany on 144.660/145.260. Secretary will ask him to let us know if the repeater is moved.
8. Jeff Reinhardt, AA6JR, Chairman of TASMA, stated that someone did not get an adjacent channel notification of a test coordination. He was assured that it is the practice of the Secretary to send co-channel and adjacent channel notifications.
9. It was decided that we need to get a new website.
10. Bill Smith, KB6MCU, will send program and files to the Secretary that will help in attaching system diagrams and other things to our website.
11. A letter will be sent to Technical Committee members after they have missed two meetings in a year that they will not serve on the committee after three absences.
12. The minutes of the meeting of February 9, 1999 were approved with two corrections, the spelling of the word Spanish in paragraph 3 line 2, and a parenthesis instead of a bracket in paragraph 3, line 10.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
