All amateurs who had scheduled business before the technical committee were notified of the meeting by e-mail.
This meeting includes the agenda items previously scheduled for the September 11, 2001 meeting that was cancelled due to the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington DC that day.
TASMA Chairman, Bob Dengler, acting as facilitator for this meeting, called the meeting to order at approximately 7:15pm.
- Introduction of those present were conducted around 7:15pm.
- The order of the agenda was changed to address item number eight (WA6SSS test coordination review) after item number 3 (reading of previous minutes), and to remove item number 10 (interference complaint against WB6ZTX) by request of the originator of the complaint (JaMi Smith -- KK6CU).
- The Minutes for the August 18, 2001 T.C. meeting were read individually by the presents. The minutes were approved on vote of 3-0 (motion by Howard (KG6GI) and second by Matt (W6KGB)).
- WA6SSS (146.895-) Idyllwild -- Review Test Coordination. Full coordination was granted on a vote of 3-0 (motion by Howard (KG6GI) and second by Matt (W6KGB)).
- W6IER (145.460-) Ontario -- Review of test coordination. Full coordination was granted on a vote of 3-0 (motion by Howard (KG6GI) and second by Matt (W6KGB)).
- K6SOA (145.240-) Trabuco -- Review of test coordination. Full coordination was granted on a vote of 2-0-2 (motion by Matt (W6KGB) and second by Charles (K6ENS); Howard (KG6GI) and Mike (KF6RQV) abstained because of their association with the club owning this machine).
- W6KGB (146.730-) Oxnard -- Review of test coordination. The TC received copy of the original RFC from Matt (W6KGB), however the system is operating under different parameters, therefore it was agreed to extend the test coordination for sixty days on a vote of 3-0-1 (motion by Howard (KG6GI) and second by Charles (K6ENS); Matt (W6KGB) abstained).
- W6KGB (147.735-) Oxnard -- Review of test coordination. The TC received copy of the original RFC from Matt (W6KGB), however the system had been out of the air for a few months, therefore it was agreed to extend the test coordination for sixty days on a vote of 3-0-1 (motion by Howard (KG6GI) and second by Charles (K6ENS); Matt (W6KGB) abstained).
- N6JMI (146.670-) Newbury Park -- Off-the-air status review. According to an email from David Norman (N6JMI) dated July 31, 2001 the system is back on the air. This item was tabled on vote of 4-0 (motion by Howard (KG6GI) and second by Mike (KF6RQV)).
There was some discussion about the questionable location of that system (Matt (W6KGB) will check into it). In addition, it was reported at the meeting that the system has considerable desense and does not appear to be very usable at this time.
- WB6ZTX (147.765-) Ventura – Interference complaint from KK6CU. This item was tabled by request of KK6CU.
- ARCA (146.940) Kingman Az. Question from ARCA on coordinating a repeater pair 146.940tx/146.340rx on Kingman Az. A motion for Bob (NO6B) to notify ARCA that the TASMA TC does not foresee any problem with this coordination was approved on vote of 4-0 (motion by Howard (KG6GI) and second by Mike (KF6RQV)).
- Web repeater list review – Review of some inconsistencies in the web repeater list. Howard (KG6GI) will review the inconsistencies as part of the database review he is undertaking.
- Technical Standards Discussion. Bob (NO6B) will update the document with the input he received from the presents.
- New Business:
- Bob Mushet (K6JHX) raised some interference problems he is receiving in Castro Peak (147.225) from the NH2R’s machine in Running Springs (test coordination in 147.225 granted on August 18, 2001). He is receiving two types of interference, one is due to some NH2R’s users DX the Running Springs machine from Los Angeles, and the second is due to the Running Spring machine covering too far to the west. Bob Mushet (K6JHX) was advised to fill a interference complaint form and in the mean time, Mike (KF6RQV) will contact NH2R to evaluate the possibility of changing the radiation pattern of the Running spring system.
- A short review of the new TC summary document produced by Mike (KF6RQV) was conducted. This new document seems suitable to replace the TC log for external audiences, by providing a summary of the actions taken by the TC during a period of time.
- Adjournment
