Minutes of the Technical Committee Meeting of November 14,2000

Present: Chairman Allan Avnet, AB8AA

Committee members: Joe Provenza, W6UPN, Karl Pagel, N6BVU, Heiko Peschel, AD6OI, Steve Hennessee, W6UMR, Rob Hanson, W6RH.
TASMA Chairman Jeff Reinhardt, AA6JR.

  1. Chairman Avnet called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
  2. There were no walk-in items present at the start of the meeting.
  3. The following one-year tests having been concluded, a Motion to grant full coordination was made by Steve, W6UMR, Seconded by Heiko, AD6OI. Vote was 5-0.
    1. 146.670- KD6AFA City Terrace
    2. 147.810- AB8AA Sunset Ridge
    3. 147.975- W6LAR Redlands
  4. New items:
    1. A report on an interference problem on 146.970- between the K6QEH repeater in Fullerton and a new repeater system in Baja California was made by Jeff AA6JR. Our contact in Baja California was contacted and he sent back a reply on the spanish system. The problem seems to have been worked out.
    2. The new proposed repeater in Imperial County will be sent the necessary forms to fill in.
    3. The temporary move of the 147.855- Northrop repeater was read and noted.
  5. Administrative Items:
    1. Discussion of the on-going on-the-air survey was made.
    2. Discussion about the Motion that was made at the October 27th General Membership meeting by NH2R to try to change the TASMA Band-plan to allow two simplex frequencies, 146.490 MHz and 147.495 MHz, to be changed to allow them to be used for repeater input and output frequencies, was made by Jeff, AA6JR. During the discussion, it was noted that NH2R has not yet applied for this pair on a standard Request for Coordination form. In fact, NH2R has not sent in the update forms after he purchased the W1CDM system on 145.440 last year. A Motion was made, to Table this change until the necessary paperwork has been sent in, by Rob, W6RH, Seconded by Heiko, AD6OI. Vote was 5-0.
    3. A Motion was offered by Joe, W6UPN to accept the Minutes of the November 1999 Tech Committee meeting, as corrected. Seconded by Steve, W6UMR. Vote was 5-0.
    4. A motion was offered by Steve, W6UMR to accept the Minutes of the October 2000 Tech Committee meeting. Seconded by Rob, W6RH. Vote was 5-0.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m. by Chairman Avnet.
