- Treasurer’s Report as of 9/30/00 was approved as published in the October Newsletter. Motion by Al Avnet, AB8AA, seconded by Jensen Woods, AH6MX, passed without objection. The Treasurer reported receiving a $250.00 check from ARRL for the TASMA repeater information used in their repeater directory last year.
- NFCC Report, Jim Fortney, K6IYK: The Board of Directors (NFCB) has elected Officers for the coming year. The term of office is the beginning of September this year through the end of August next year.
A short recess was taken while late arrivals signed in and renewed their memberships.
- Secretary/Correspondence Report: Correspondence report was distributed by the Secretary to the board members present. There was no pressing correspondence, the majority of the correspondence was TASMA memberships.
- Chairman’s Report:
- The Chairman has been talking to various groups within Orange County.
- No correspondence with the FCC since the last meeting.
- While visiting OCCARO the Chairman was informed of a repeater that apparently located somewhere in Mexico that has been interfering with the HDSCS repeater as well as repeaters on 440. The problem seems to have been resolved.
- Old Business:
- Bylaw changes: The changes published in the October Newsletter were approved as a package. Motion made by Jensen Woods, AH6MX, seconded by Wally Foster, N6CDJ, vote 10 for the changes - 0 abstaining, 0 against the change.
A short recess was taken while late arrivals signed in and renewed their memberships.
- A question was raised about the TASMA repeater database. The Secretary has not received a copy of the repeater database from the Secretary of the Technical Committee as directed at the February Board meeting. She has also not received an update of the repeater database to post on the web page since July.
- The Chairman reported that Ted Fukushima, N6ZZK, has agreed to assist Karl Pagel, N6BVU, with maintaining the repeater database. Jim Fortney, K6IYK, was asked to assist Ted in obtaining a copy of the database from Karl. Jim agreed to intervene and asked that the Technical Committee Chairman be included in the effort.
- The Technical Committee Chairman evaluated a public domain database program that was expressly written for repeater coordination. He said the database program has a good information base, but would take considerable effort to convert our existing database to that format. Jim Fortney, K6IYK, indicated that he would assist in developing conversion routines if it was decided to use the new program.
- New Business:
- Discussion of Coordination Status in Southern California - TASMA has added a couple of small repeater operations in the last year. These are posted on the web site along with minutes, current repeater list, as well as the Band Plan.
- Jim Fortney announced that TASMA now owns the Internet Domain Name "TASMA.ORG", and that use of that URL www.tasma.org will result in a direct link to our Website at QSL.NET.
- We are encouraging repeater owners to keep their operating information up to date with TASMA. You will not retain a coordination if you move a repeater and fail to notify TASMA. Coordinations do not automatically transfer with the sale of equipment, they can not be bought. Accurate information is very important if it is necessary for TASMA to respond to an inquiry from the FCC regarding an interference complaint.
- Offer of Terrain Mapping Software: Kevin Nida ,WD6AIS, (NIDA Communications) has offered to do any maps in terrain mapping software for Southern California at no charge to TASMA. The Chairman’s goal is to get every repeater in our database mapped with this software. This will not cause changes to active repeater coordinations TASMA has currently on its database.
- The Chairman asked again for at least one person who speaks Spanish to sit on the Technical Committee.
- A motion was made by Miguel Ramirez, NH2R, seconded by Al Avnet, AB8AA to modify the Band Plan list of acceptable deviations to add the split 146.490/147.495 for repeater use. Vote on this item was put off until the Annual meeting pending review by the Technical Committee and notification of the general membership. This group was encouraged to find an acceptable repeater pair within the current Band Plan.
- Nomination of officers for 2001:
- The Chairman and the Secretary both indicated they were not seeking reelection.
- The Chairman was notified Jim Keck, N6JIM, is not seeking reelection as Board Member at Large.
- Jensen Woods, AH6MX, nominated Bob Dengler, NO6B, for Chairman. Bob was present and accepted the nomination. The Treasurer reported that Bob is a new member as of this meeting. There were no other nominations.
- Jensen Woods, AH6MX, nominated Pat Fink, KC6ACL, for Vice Chair. He gave the Secretary a letter from Pat stating she is willing to run for Vice Chairman again this year. There were no other nominations.
