Minutes of the Technical Committee Meeting of April 11, 2000

Visitors were: AH6MX Jensen Woods, W6UMR Steve Hennessee, WB6PTE Harold VanAuken, AC6NZ Daniel Lechliter, KE6QQV Matt Lechliter, and KF6OWF Bernie Travers.

Meeting called to Order by Allan Avnet, AB8AA, Tech Committee Chairman at 7:08 p.m.

  1. Walk-in Items: KE6QQV, Matt Lechliter applied for 146.700- in Oxnard
  2. Carried over from previous meetings:
    1. 147.885- WA6MTZ changing to WA6TST, needs a coverage map and site agreement before a 1 year test can be issued.
    2. 147.060+ KB6FRW changing to N6TVZ, callsign change only. Approved.
    3. RFC from N6HYM for 146.700- in Santa Barbara, Rob Hanson W6RH made a Motion to Test, Karl Pagel N6BVU Seconded the Motion, vote was 3-0.
    4. Callsign change on 145.280- from KJ6HW to K6QN. Approved.
    5. W6IER’s e-mail request to use 145.500- to replace 145.480- was denied. Out of the repeater band.
    6. W6UMR’s request for a new pair in Homeland. He will submit a RFC for 145.200-.

  3. One-year tests concluded:
    1. 144.505 W3TGG, Tree People site, Hollywood Hills
    2. 145.140- KH6FL Huntington Beach RACES
    3. 146.355+ KN6NA El Cajon, San Diego
      On all three items, Karl Pagel N6BVU Moved to Issue a Final Coordination, and Rob Hanson W6RH Seconded each Motion.

  4. Interference cases
    1. WA6PPS vs WB6QHB 147.300+. We need to find out if WA6PPS has moved, and to where.
    2. N6TVZ vs W6PWT 147.060+. That’s what the one year tests are all about. Noted.
    3. W6LAR’s problem with a paging transmitter near his 147.38 input. The Committee felt that W6LAR needs to solve his own problem.

  5. Miscellaneous stuff.
    1. The new simplex frequency for the hang-gliders weather machine is 147.465 MHz.
    2. The northern California remote base input to 6 meters is 147.525 MHz.

  6. Callsign changes.
    TASMA has no record of these changes yet.

    2. 145.180- KF6HPG (our records show W6HDC)
    3. 145.480- W6IER (our records show KE6UPK)
    4. 146.670- K7QT (our records show WA6HYQ)

    7. 147.075+ KC6FMX (our records show N6JOQ)
    8. Has K6DLX moved to Running Springs ?

  7. Lost Souls
    TASMA received initial requests from these individuals, but has never received a RFC from them.
    1. W6EMS Anaheim, wanted a pair on Santiago Peak
    2. WB6DTR San Diego, wanted a pair on Mt Otay for the City of San Diego Employees ARC
    3. N6YMZ Blythe, wanted a pair for Lower McCoy Mountain
    4. KN6CW Edwards AFB, wanted both pairs on 2m and 440.
    5. KK6NJ Downey, wanted to use 145.495- (not in bandplan).

  8. Administrative Agenda
    1. Jeff Reinhardt, AA6JR went to a convention in Las Vegas and brought back some software programs on terrain mapping. Jeff and Rob Hanson, W6RH are going to investigate the programs with possible future purchases if approved by the Executive Committee.
    2. Steve Hennessee, W6UMR applied to join the TASMA Technical Committee. As his application was mislaid, he gave the Committee members a short history of his life in amateur radio. His application was Approved by Jeff Reinhardt, AA6JR.
    3. Jim Fortney K6IYK and Karl Pagel N6BVU will share their databases with Jane Avnet.
