Minutes of the Technical Committee Meeting of February 8, 2000

The meeting was called to order by TASMA Chairman Jeff Reinhardt, AA6JR, at 1917. The minutes of the January meeting were corrected and approved.

1- Name change was granted to the Citrus Belt Amateur Radio Club repeater 146.850. They have agreed to send TASMA a contour map. Motion by John Cordle, KF6XY, second by Duncan Campbell, KF6ILA, motion passed 3 - 0.

2- RFC for 146.100/146.700 by Jim Ward, N6HYM, South Santa Barbara County was incomplete. It will be returned to Mr. Ward to complete his application. Missing were: a coverage map; power output specs; complete information on hardware; PL; site agreement. The committee has concerns about ducting into and from San Diego also a RTTY repeater on Mt. Palamar on the same frequency. The TC Secretary was directed to bring the records for this frequency including the RTTY repeater to the March TC meeting.

3- Question was raised if the KE6GUC RFC for 137.915/147.315 received last month had been notified of his one year test period.

4- Read letter from Steve Hennesee, W6UMR, requesting information. The TC Secretary was directed to send RFC paperwork to Mr. Hennesee.

5- Read letter from Steve Jensen, W6RHM, The secretary was directed to send an RFC to Ron Hazard for change in trustee information.

6- Kenwood wants TASMA's support for their Sky Command system. FCC will make a ruling if their use of the bands are legal. John Cordle, KF6XY, moved to table this issue until a ruling is made by the FCC. Motion passed.

7- An e-mail was read forwarded by AB6UB to Jeff on 145.500. No action taken.

8- An RFC received from John T. Barr, W6JTB, on 146.055/146.655. Duncan moved we put them on one year test seconded by Rob, motion carried 3 - 0. Jeff and Rob will investigate and verify information.

9- Trustee for 147.885 made application to change call and location. Duncan moved to table this until next meeting, second Rob, motion carried 3-0.

10- Change on 147.060 in Costa Mesa. Duncan moved to table this until next meeting, second Rob, motion carried 3-0.

11- Fried Heyn, WA6WZO, contacted Jeff in reference to the Hang Gliding community wanting a repeater dedicated to their use. Jeff will write a letter to invite them to a TASMA Tech Meeting to see if there is any reason or circumstance that would prevent them from using a repeater already in place.
